Giles has a bachelor degree in landscape architecture and a master degree in urban design and planning with a broad international background of design and experience in Belgium, China, Croatia, Hungary, The Netherlands, United States, and Japan.
During his academic career he started to develop concepts, detailed design, and papers. He also undertook several exchanges, internships, and contracts in leading international design companies (Turenscape, Buro2&archi+1) and organizations (UN Habitat).
Now he is conducting his PhD with the intention of applying Sustainability Science within the urban design environment.
Sustainability in Urban Design by Urban Agriculture integration.
Urban Agriculture, Sustainability, Productive Landscapes, Urban Settlements, Ecosystem Based Adaptation, Resilience, Disaster Preparedness
Application and model quantification of Urban Agriculture (UA) within the contemporary Urban Environment according to a new Strategic Concept which can work as a coherent framework for policy makers and designers. How can UA can be planned within the contemporary built environment, providing sustainable and strategic strategies as an alternative for isolated developments of pilot projects which can then be proposed as a new planning system.
