Biography
Yuki is working on a regional adaptation of the Inclusive Wealth Index, which was proposed as an indicator of a society's performance more comprehensive and relevant to sustainability than e.g. GDP. To this end, her present approach mixes quantitative and qualitative methodologies to portray the state of Sado Island, a socio-ecological production landscape in Japan. She endeavors to better capture non-market and intangible aspects of human-nature interactions.

Her past research has focused on how people conceptually think about and relate to nature, and how this human-nature relationship affects their physical interaction with the natural environment. She received her BA in Psychology and Environmental Studies from Middlebury College in Vermont, USA, and her MS in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
